well.... I wasnt able to finish my boot painting in time. I am disapointed but cant really be too hard on myself because I only had a week to paint and get it ready for the show.... I'll continue to work on the boot and we'll see how it turns out.
I taught my 2nd art class yesterday and hada blast. We discussed color, hue and saturation. We made a gray scale and a color wheel. He was very excited to see how color mixing works. We talked about the rainbow, primary and sedcondary color, and how by using the 3 primary colors and black and white you could make any color imaginable. Next week I think we may start a painting.

The only requirement, of coourse, boots must be in the painting. Its being held at Morton Street Gallery, a local gallery in Richmond Tx. This will be my first juried show, and my first national show... wish me luck!

My art student just left. We talked about the difference in pencils, from H6, to HB to B6... We covered composition, proportion, color value, breaking things down into shapes, shadow and light... Had a great time! Hope he doesnt mind the homework... lol Now, its time to prepare for next week.

I have a new student coming today after school. He's a very cool 2nd grader, who loves to draw. I'm excited about getting started with him. I've been busy getting things ready for class.
I also have several projects in the works. I'm painting a secretary and shelf, I'm painting it for a friend who is redecorating her daughters room. I think she'll be very happy with the results. I have several jazz inspired paintings that I have been working on for my neice, who is an incredible jazz saxaphone player. She will be displaying the paintings on her website. I also have a juried art show coming up, and have to get started on at least one painting to enter. The theme of the show is 'Boots to Heal' and will benefit M.D. Anderson. Like the name suggests, all the paintings must contain a boot of some kind. If I'm able to finish in time, I will be delivering my painting to the gallery this Saturday for judging. Wish me luck.....
