VIA COLORI~
Just 4 more days until Via Colori! I can't wait. Via Colori is a street painting festival in Downtown Houston. Its a wonderful 2 day event that showcases 200 artists who create large scale murals directly on the streets of Allen Parkway and Bagby at Sam Houston Park. The festival is to bring awareness to The Center for Hearing and Speech in Houston. Its a wonderful event and so much fun to be apart of. Last year was my first year to participate and I had an amazing time. I painted a big, bright, beautiful sunflower, with a magical colorful center. Now... to decide what I'll paint this year... wish me luck~
Its been awhile since I've posted, but I've gotten a lot done...lol Have had several lessons with my art student. We've been learning about water color and all the wonderful things you can do with it. He was very excited to learn about the wet on wet technique, he thought that was pretty cool. He thought the way the colors merged together was 'awesome'. Yesterday we played with some water color batik... he loved that! We used a tool that melts wax and allows you to draw with it. After he drew his picture, we very lightly sprinkled powdered pigment all over his water color paper. Then, we took a spray bottle and began to spray. When the water hit the pigments, they began to 'grow'. The more water the more color he got. It was so fun to watch him doing this project, he was so into it. I just love when that happens~ :)
